Teacher Uma

Uma has a Bachelor of Science with a Major in Zoology from MK University in Madurai and a Diploma in Special Education in NIMH (National institute of Mental Health).

Since 1998, she has taught students with special needs from age 3 to 18 with different disabilities such as Autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, Mental Retardation, and behavioural problems.

She has experience working with children of different background and varying needs. She worked with normal Technical level students in primary school, worked with children with mild intellectual disability as well as children who needed early intervention. She has been teaching Literacy, Numeracy and Activities of Daily Living and worked with celebration committee.

Teacher Uma’s aim is to provide the best possible individualized support, constructive feedback and early intervention for the benefit of each child with special needs.

She believes that every child is unique and everyone has potential in different areas. She feels it is her responsibility as a teacher to help discover these strengths and maximize their potential.

Teacher Uma likes to cook and travel and she is always willing to learn as she believes that learning is a lifelong process.
